Is Erin a good mother?
After watching this movie,I think of“The Pursuit of Happiness ”.When Chris lost his family and in his career slump ,he didn’t give up easily,he struggled to pursue his dream and meanwhile took care of his son.Finally,he succeed.Both of the two movies are very touching.The spirit of the two movies is the same---never compromise.But there’s a difference:the protagonists are different in sex.The same is true for two single parents,but it seems that no one has ever discussed “If Chris is a good father”after they watching the movie,because the answer is absolutely “Yes”.Whatever how poor Chris was,the little boy was always very happy under the protect of his father.But in the movie of “Erin Brockovich”,the protagonist was a single mother,when she chose to realize her own life value but sometimes neglected her family,her first sons’ misunderstanding, her boyfriends’ left,all these have raised a question:“such a women who ‘desert’ her family,Is she a good mother?”
But...who dares to say “no?”
I was impressed by two scenes in the film.One scene is:in order to survive, Erin worked in a law firm and entrusted the child to an unknown woman,one day,the negative,greasy women send the children back to the empty home without informing Erin maybe just because some unimportant things,it really drove Eric mad. And another scene is:when George told Erin her little girl Beth started talking and said her first word “ball”in her life,at the beginning,Erin was surprised,incredible,and then,she was moved and begin to cry when she thought of the hard work of taking care of three children.Erin didn’t corrupt when facing unemployment,debt and divorce carrying three children ,on the contrary,it was because of the three children,she had the courage to continue her life ,so she worked hard and tried her best to balance her family life and her career.
Being a strong woman at work and at the same time being a soft mother at home.
In today’s world,I don’t know why many people agree that when a women has a good career which means she doesn’t care about her family.Indeed,their time and energy is limited,no one can work in the company and at the same time take care of children at home ,but I believe the family and career can be balanced well.About the women's roles in family and career,in my opinion,the women should be strong,just like Erin.Any single mother carrying three children, may not be as brave as Erin is when they’re so poor. Erin’s cheerful,optimistic and determined character determined her twin harvests in her career and her family.As the old saying goes:“The women are weak,but mothers are strong.”When Erin was fired by Ed,she cried to George and said she was a beauty queen when she was young,she thought she would be someone.Although finally she began to realize her own value,George chose to leave her because of her neglect to family,Erin said to him: “For the first time in my life I’ve got people respecting me,I can’t leave my job.”Luckily,George came back later.At the end of the movie,Eric took George to tell Mrs.Donna that the lawsuit was won,she said to George “I want to show you what you helped to do.”Eric was very lucky to meet George.
As we all know, Jay Chou has much money,he is very rich.But his young wife Quinlivan works very hard.Someone asks her why,she says she wants her children consider their parents are diligent person .I love this movie not only for the fight of justice,but also the affirmation for the women when they can balance their family life and career well.
