讲述了Jitze(20)的故事。Jitze是个职业电脑游戏玩家，为参加各国电游大赛而云游四方。在台北转机时，他意外地见证了一起自己每天经历，只存在于游戏中的事故；这场意外使他面临生命危险，他的世界也因为现实生活中的暴力而突然改变。Jitze 随后在团队下榻的酒店吧台遇到了一个台湾女孩，后者既是按摩女郎、贴身保镖，又是槟榔西施，使他着实震惊。他试图接近女孩，却只在第二人生的虚幻世界中才成功与她来往。影片描述了人类历史上世界各国第一代大部分时间生活在虚拟世界中的人类的故事。R U THERE is the story of Jitze (20), a professional gamer who travels around the world to compete in video game tournaments. During a stay in Taipei he unexpectedly witnesses an accident, which confronts him with his own mortality and makes him doubt the certainties of his existence. When he meets a Taiwanese betelnut girl he is attracted to, he only manages to get close to her in Second Life, which serves to compound his doubts.
