故事发生在90年代纽约的一家餐厅，此时正聚集了一些城市中微不足道的梦想家与计划者──他们是一群销售“黄牛票”的掮客，正在庆祝当日丰硕的成果。而盖瑞在这一堆违法销售票券、美其名为“掮客”的乌合之众里位居“主席”之职。经过几年下来，盖瑞凭着他敏捷的智能和言语、以及所谓“盗贼仁义”般的人生哲学，悠游于这个行业之中并累积了不少的财富。但是，盖瑞遇到了两个问题，让他的世界必须改变，其一是与他交往多年的女友琳达终于厌倦了他这种反复无常的生活，其二是突然有另一坏蛋黄牛欲介入盖瑞的地盘，成为纽约的“黄牛票大王”。他该如何抉择呢, 放弃女友?还是放手一博?Gary is a charming guy, but Linda is tired of his grand plans and schemes. All of which have gone down the drain. Gary is a 'scalper'. Together with his friends and his 'Guardian Angel', Benny, he buys tickets to events and sells them off at highly increased prices. This doesn't really make him rich and proves to be more difficult than usual when a new guy gets into town, strong-arming all of Gary's sources. But then the gift of heaven arrives. The Pope is coming for a visit. Gary wants to make a lot of money on this so he can finally get one of his (more decent) plans for Linda off the ground and really work on a lasting relationship with her.
