在一场空难新闻发生後，迪瓦尔公司推出革命性的全新产品CD70，这个系统可以自动进行飞行导航，提升飞安水准。推出CD70的亿万富翁理察和儿子查尔斯在一架跨洲747上安装了这个设备。一开始，系统看起来并无大碍，但後来飞机却被卷入暴风圈之中，机长和副驾驶一个死亡，一个昏迷，而CD70程序紊乱，飞机偏离航线，且接管了飞机上的通讯，氧气系统，甚至衍生出反击能力，不让人关闭自己。当飞机接近大城市时，国防部长命令军队击下这架可疑飞机。这时就必须靠CD70 的发明人汤姆伍瓦设法登机拆除这个装备...，汤姆伍瓦登山飞机，和妻子一道最终关闭系统，而妻子在地勤人员指挥下，居然奇迹般的让飞机降落，众人化险为夷。A new airplane that's equipped with a new computer that can fly the plane on its own is about to have its first flight. When the son of the owner decides to upload more software, he doesn't bother to check if there are any viruses with it. And he also invites some potential investors to try it. So the plane appears to be working well but suddenly it veers off course and it can't be shut down. When the military learns of this, they fear of something happening over a populated area and decide to shoot it down along with everyone on board. The man who built the computer whose wife is among the passengers thinks if he can get on board so that he might be able to shut it down and regain control of the plane. So the military using a new plane gets him on board. But what he didn't know is that both pilots are incapacitated so there's no one who can fly the plane.
