Plot Summary:An aging politician tries to get re-elected one last time in the changing world of the 1950s when TV started to play a bigger part in politics. Based loosely on the career of multi-term Boston Mayor James Michael Curley, this film examines the good and evil inherent in politics and all the things that go into an election. Tracy's uphill battle to stay in office is set against the political machinery that preyed on ethnic hatred and old-time money.

屈塞晚年和福特再次合作的片子……恕我直言无聊至极，唯一亮点居然是剧中屈塞那个角色已故的妻子叫Kate（懂得自然懂）
虽然也喜欢电影，但我还是更爱电视剧，估计是因为电影更看重拍摄技术，而电视剧当然要靠剧情和撕逼。。政治片，讲出政客的两面性，民主自由这些政治词汇的两面性，主角在时代洪流中的被迫与机智，就称得上是好片子啦。所以虽然老，但是一部很合规的政治好电影。
