Plot Summary:Against the Current is a documentary about the last female drifters in Iceland. Drifters were a specific subgroup of the homeless population in the Icelandic agricultural society; individuals who travelled from one farm to another to ask for shelter and food. The film is based on interviews with people who met the last female drifters when they were children; interviews that give sound to the silenced story of female drifters in Iceland.
