Plot Summary:Taunted in primary school for not being able to speak Mandarin, Lin grew up to become a teacher of the Taiwanese language and a scholar of regional cultural history. His fate of a substitute teacher is that of a drifter, and his in-depth research in cultural history no longer has practical application. Lin looks back on his life and realizes that he is like a stray dog with no future.
