Plot Summary:Honoré Blanchard, 85, earned his living cleaning up bodies for the mob and as a freshwater fisherman. He lives with his son Fernand, operator of a \"gaz bar\" in Coteau Rouge. Its prices are low, but mostly it has a large pétanque alley adjoining the Ekonogaz where the local association of pétanque players meets. Fernand has two children: Hélène and Henri. Hélène is married to an unscrupulous promoter, Éric Miljours, who wants to raze Coteau Rouge and turn it into an upscale development. Hélène is the only Blanchard not living in Coteau Rouge. Since she was unable to have children on her own, Micheline, her own mother, agreed to be a surrogate. Henri lives with Estelle. He borrowed $ 125,000 from his brother-in-law for Estelle to take experimental treatments in Mexico.
